And this fun, last competition of the year, was a very successful one for our Junior squad. Queenstown teams from Step 1 to 3 competed fantastically with lots of placings. Here are the results:

Step 1
Amelie Carran – 3rd overall
Stella Rhind – 1st on vault
Jade Carran – 2nd on Vault
Sabine Edmonds – 1st equal on Bars
Briar Dennison – 1st on beam

Step 2
Queenstown 1 – 2nd team
Sophie Wood – 1st on bar, 2nd overall
Kirsten Byers – 3rd on vault, 3rd overall
Ava McIntyre – 2nd on vault

Step 3
2nd team – combined with Cromwell and Balclutha
Elise Edmond – 2nd on bar, 3rd on floor, 2nd overall
Florence Nelson – 3rd on bar
Scarlett Rose – 3rd on vault

Great effort, ladies. And a big thank you goes to Gio and her coaching team. It has been a fantastic competition season 2014. Watch out 2015! 😉

 

New Zealand National Championships, Auckland 7th – 11th October 2014

The Queenstown Gymnastics Club is proud having had Ana-Carolina Lozano competing at the New Zealand National GymSports Championships as part of the the Southland Team 2014.

This is the first time in nine years since Queenstown has had representation at the GSNZ National Championships.

Carol competed well, especially in vault, placing 13th.

South Island Champs in Timaru, 6th of September 2014

The senior squad has been competing at the South Island Champs in Timaru this year. Here are the results:

WAG 3 unders
Elise Edmonds 6th on bars

WAG 4 unders
Liana Carran 4th on bars, 4th on floor

WAG 5 unders
Carol Lozano 3rd on vault
Ana Sofia Tapper 4th on vault

Well done also to the girls that did not quite get placings. For some of them it was the first competition on a new step. 🙂

 

College Street Competition, Dunedin, 30th of August 2014

Our Step 2 ladies

Fantastic Results again at the College Street competition in Dunedin end of August. The Junior Squad competed well. Here are the results:

Step 1 unders:
Zoe Cummings – 1st on floor, 2nd on vault, bar and beam, 1st overall
Amalie Brown – 1st on bar, 1st on beam, 3rd on floor, 3rd on vault, 2nd overall

The girls also were part of the 2nd placed team, a combined team of Queenstown, Aspiring and College Street.

Step 2 unders:
Kirsten Byers – 2nd on beam
Sophie Wood – 3rd on bar
Scarlett Rose – 2nd on vault

Kirsten Byers, Sophie Wood, Scarlett Rose, Florence Nelson and Ava McIntyre also placed 2nd in the teams division for step 2.

 

Southland Champs in Invercargill, 9th and 10th August 2014

Another comp with great results we have under our belt. Well done to all the gymnasts who have taken part in the Southland Champs in Invercargill.

Here are the results:

Amalie Brown – 1st on vault, 2nd on bar, 1st on beam and 1st on floor, 1st overall with an impressive 55.05 points total
Zoe Cummings – 2nd on vault, 3rd on bar, 3rd on floor, 3rd overall
Stella Rhind – 3rd on vault

Step 2 unders:
Scarlett Rose – 3rd on vault
Sophie Wood – 2nd on vault
Florence Nelson – 1st on bar
Kirsten Byers – 3rd on bar
This team also placed 3rd in the teams ranking

Step 3 unders:
Amelia Wikstrom – 1st on vault, 1st on bar, 3rd on beam, 1st on floor, 1st overall
Elise Edmond – 3rd on vault, 2nd on bar, 2nd on beam, 3rd on floor, 3rd overall
Ella Mansfield – 3rd on bar, 2nd on floor
This team also ranked 3rd in the teams competition

Step 4 unders:
Liana Carran – 3rd on vault, 3rd on floor
Liana also was in a joined team of QT and Invercargill, which got 2nd team

Step 5 unders (Day 1):
Carol Lozano – 2nd on vault, 3rd on bar, 3rd on beam, 2nd on floor, 3rd overall
Carol Lozano, Sophie Stalker and Ana Tapper also were in a joined QT and Invercargill team ranking 2nd team

Step 5 unders (Day 2):
Carol Lozano – 1st on vault, 2nd on bar, 3rd on floor, 3rd overall
Ana Tapper – 3rd on beam

We are very excited to have Carol Lozano being selected for the Southland team to compete in the Nationals in October. Well done, Carol and all the best! 🙂

 

Otago Champs, Dunedin, 26 July 2014

Well done to our senior gymnasts on achieving great results at the Otago Champs in Dunedin this weekend. A big thanks to Gio and the coaching team for preparing the girls so well.

Dunedin Gymnastics Academy (DGA) Competition, 8th June 2014

Our senior competition squad achieved fantastic results over the weekend at the DGA competition, Caledonian Gymnasium in Dunedin.

Evie Barlow – 1st on beam, 1st on floor and 1st overall
Millie Wikstrom – 1st on vault, 2nd on bar, 2nd on floor and 2nd overall
Ella Mansfield – 3rd on floor

Sophie Stalker, Ana Tapper and Liana Carran  – were part of the 1st placed winning Invercargill-Queenstown team

Awesome efforts, girls! Good luck for this weekend’s Invercargill comp in which Steps 1-5 will compete, being a huge squad from the Queenstown Gymnastics Club.

 

St Bernadettes Dunedin competition, 18th May 2014
Here are the results of the St. Berndatettes, Dunedin competition, in which the Queenstown Advanced Rec, Pre-Comp and Steps 1-3 squad participated.  First comp of the season and the girls were amazing. We are very proud of our gymnasts.
